Prof Konstantinos Georgiadis

Konstantinos Georgiadis is Professor in the Department of Sports Organisation and Management at the University of Peloponnese. He holds a PhD in Sports Science from the Johannes Gutenberg Universität of Mainz. His academic interests are in the history and revival of the Olympic Games, the social, political and cultural aspects of the Games, and Olympic Pedagogy.

He is Dean of the Faculty of Human Movement and Quality of Life Sciences, University of Peloponnese. He has been the Honorary Dean of the IOA, and also the Director of the International Postgraduate Program there since 1993. Since 2000, he has been a member of the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Education. He has been elected member of the Executive Committee of the International Society of Olympic Historians. He was a member of the Executive Board of the “Athens 2004” Organising Committee.
